I think you are referring to using 3 gallons and expecting 10 gallons storage. In that case yes heat might be a concern, even without enclosure. For nail guns, air blowing, inflating tires and occasionally grinding with air tools, it works like a charm so far.
Have you had any problems with overheating? Usually, those little compressors need all the air they can get.
